Enoch

Enoch Disappears

Global Disappearances Shocks the World

Heb 11:5-6 & Selected

Matthew 24:3 3 Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?”

  • End” ‘sunteleia’ in the Greek means, “The final culmination of a planned series of events”
  • In other words, God has a perfect plan for the future as He draws “human history” to a close
  • I remember my grandmother telling me as a young child about the second coming of Jesus

George Gallup…The belief that Jesus Christ will return to earth someday is held by 62 percent of all Americans.

I.  Old Testament “Picture” of a Future Event…

  • Enoch walked with God

Genesis 5:21-24 21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. 22 And after he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 Altogether, Enoch lived 365 years. 24 Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away… 27 Altogether, Methuselah lived 969 years, and then he died.

  • Interesting, Methuselah means “His death shall bring”, it shall come… Day he died, Noah’s flood began
  • Oldest man recorded… 969… Why? God’s longsuffering not willing anyone perish… all be saved 2Pet3
  • Enoch proclaimed the 2nd coming of Christ

Jude 1:14-15 14 Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones 15 to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

  • Enoch pleased God by Faith and was taken

Hebrews 11:5-6 5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

The O.T. story of Enoch…

  • He was taken from this life
  • He did not experience death
  • He could not be found, God took him away
  • He pleased God with a relationship of faith
